Cassinia was founded by sixth-generation Australian farmer Paul Dettman, whose connection to the land runs deep.
Growing up on a grazing property in Central Victoria, Paul Dettman witnessed both the richness and the vulnerability of Australia’s natural landscapes. From these early experiences came a conviction: that agriculture and nature don’t need to compete — they can thrive together.
That vision was strengthened through his work with smallholder farmers in Africa, where he saw how restoring land could also restore livelihoods and community wellbeing. In 2003, Cassinia was established to put this principle into practice — working to restore and protect landscapes in ways that honour both people and planet.
Over the past 20 years, Cassinia has grown into a team of over 50, remained profitable each year, and delivered more than 100 large-scale restoration projects across 30,000+ hectares. Our work continues to demonstrate that environmental stewardship and commercial success can go hand in hand.
